What is the TOPIK exam?

TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) assesses Korean language ability for non-native speakers. Results may be used for university study or employment in Korea.

TOPIK I

TOPIK I covers beginner listening and reading; scores award level 1 or 2.

TOPIK II

TOPIK II covers intermediate to advanced listening, reading and writing; scores award levels 3 to 6.

Paper-based (PBT) and internet-based (IBT) tests have different question counts, durations and level thresholds. Check the official notice before registering. A separate speaking test also exists.

Beginners can start with TOPIK I vocabulary, listening and reading. TOPIK II candidates should prepare writing separately; the first TOPIK Today app release does not include writing practice.
